Carrie Booher, Ph.D., Dr. Carrie S. Booher graduated from the University of Tennessee with her Ph.D. in School Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist. During an internship in Texas, she focused on counseling youth of various ages and populations who were identified by the school system as having an emotional disturbance. She has taught numerous psychology graduate classes at Tennessee State University.
Dr. Booher conducts couples therapy and individual therapy for those experiencing distress due to life changes, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, self-esteem and self-assertion issues, and parenting issues, to name a few. Her approach to therapy incorporates cognitive-behavioral techniques, emotion-focused therapy, and solution-focused approaches, while providing a supportive environment in which clients can potentially learn and grow.
Dr. Booher’s experience also includes parent/teacher consulting, parent training, development of behavior plans and interventions for children and adolescents, and psychological assessment of adults and children. Furthermore, for interested clients, group therapy is available to those who have a dual diagnosis suggesting a psychological disorder (e.g. depression, anxiety, etc.) and chronic pain. Group therapy addresses pain management and management of associated psychological symptoms.
